Episode 49 Editing with Filmmaker Garrett Batty

by Liz

There’s not going to be a lot lost in translation from the set to post poduction.

Garrett Batty talking about being a writer-director-editor

I met with Garrett over Zoom to discuss how screenwriting, directing and editing intersect for him as an independent filmmaker wearing many hats. We talk about the three times a story gets told, how he does works a little differently as a director if he knows he is going to be the editor, and we get into the details of the filmmaking editor’s work. Garrett also shares one of his on set secrets for capturing actor’s raw and authethic moments, and one of the ways he writes shots into the actions of his script.
